Hey There

I’m Sierra Mathews, and I’ve been lucky enough to experience the incredible sport of barrel racing. I’m beyond thankful for the horses, mentors, and friends who’ve been part of my journey. Let me take you through my world of barrels and bonds.

About Me

Hey there! I’m Sierra Mathews, a 15-year-old freshman in high school, living in beautiful Northern California. Ever since I can remember, I’ve dreamed of becoming a professional barrel racer, competing across this amazing country.

At 12 years old, my dream began to take shape when I got my first horse, Red, a stunning 16-hand Quarter Horse. Red taught me the fundamentals of horsemanship, and our bond laid the foundation for my journey in the world of riding. Soon after, I was blessed with another incredible partner, Dolly. It was with her that I dove into barrel racing lessons, discovering the thrill of the sport.

As I honed my skills, I realized I needed a more experienced horse. Dolly found a loving home with a dear friend, and I was fortunate to take on my dad’s horse, Ed. Though he was mainly used for ranch work, with patience and training, we began racing cans together. Before long, we were placing in various events and winning checks! Riding Ed has been a dream come true.

In 2024, I welcomed a new Quarter Horse named LC into my life. We’ve been working hard to prepare her for her fraternity year starting in October 2025. She’s getting accustomed to the barrel patterns, road trips, and distractions, and I can’t wait to see how she performs in her first race!

I am incredibly grateful for the blessings God has bestowed upon me—my life, my horses, and my supportive family. I’m thrilled for all the adventures that lie ahead for me and my horses, and I can't wait to share them with you!

Join me on this exciting journey as I chase my dreams one barrel at a time!
